Poison
Live @ Merriweather Post Pavilion | 7/10/12
I'm always excited to see glam-kings Poison. Omnipresent on the nostalgia circuit, Poison brings guitarist C.C. DeVille's ripping solos and front man Bret Michaels’ charisma. This was a rocking show thanks to C.C.’s terrific sound. Although a favorite guitarist of mine, C.C. can go a little over-the-top to the point where his playing can sound choppy and sloppy. He was on point tonight, though: crisp, clean, and stellar. Bret sounded great, too, giving the fans all the tunes they know and love. Poison’s usual rhythm section of bassist Bobby Dall and drummer Rikki Rockett contributed to an amazing show and an awesome opening for Def Leppard.
Poison played with Lita Ford and Def Leppard at this show, called Metal Week.

Glam metal has been around forever and Poison is a favorite. Guitarist C.C. DeVille is all charisma and swagger and I was so amped up to final see them. Without new songs they’ve fallen into the nostalgia music scene but are still kings of the sunset strip. Classics like "Talk Dirty To Me," "Fallen Angel," "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and "Nothin' But A Good Time" make for a killer show with big pyro, slamming guitars, and a crowd that just wants to dance and sing. Even though front man Bret Michaels is now a reality tv star, Poison still tours regularly.
Poison played this show, known as Outlaw Jam 2, with Mötley Crüe.
