Alice Cooper

Merriweather Post Pavilion | 6/17/13

"The Godfather of Shock Rock" Alice Cooper was the star of the show. The man is untouchable, from his stage presence, to his props, to his ability to choose his band. His axe-woman Orianthi is a shred machine. He worked the stage like the pro he is; everyone in the crowd was singing and having a blast. Alice played all the classics, from "Poison," "No More Mr. Nice Guy," to "School's Out," and even ended the night dueting with Marilyn Manson to "I'm Eighteen." Awesome!

Alice Cooper played with Marilyn Manson and Gwar at this concert, called The Masters of Madness Tour.

Alice Cooper is a living legend. The man single-handedly invented shock rock and hard-rock musical theater. His shows feature lynchings, guillotines, electric chairs, executions galore. Alice has been active in music for 50 years which is just a staggering thing to think about especially in a business where if you don't stay relevant you die. Twenty-six records later Alice won't stop. I had always wanted to see him perform and I was in no way disappointed. He offered up all the classic songs, including my favorite "Poison," and I didn't want the show to end. His ensemble features an exciting guitar talent in Australia's Orianthi, already a favorite of mine. This show just opened my eyes wide. I am so ready for my next Alice experience; the man lives to entertain.
