Dillinger Escape Plan

Live @ Baltimore Soundstage | 4/5/15

Dillinger Escape Plan is one of those "new wave" of progressive metal bands. They have never felt it necessary to impress record labels or make music that caters to what sells versus what doesn't. They have always done things there own way and it has led to five records, one live release and four EPs. Currently touring in support of their latest record, One of Us is the Killer. This was a solid set full of energy and crushing tunes. Led by screaming vocalist Greg Puciato DEP had the room moving and the crowd jumping. I however was left a little disappointed. This was my first time seeing DEP and I had been led to believe that going to their show came with a certain amount threat to your safety. A vicious crowd, crazy pits and violent stage antics like the glory days of thrash was what their reputation had been built on and it was not delivered. I did enjoy the show want if they were on the bill of another show I was interested in it would not stop me from going but I will be expecting a bit more.
